Introducing the WinTech WaveRider: Don't just row the waves. Ride them.

A new breed of ocean rowing boat has arrived. Lightweight, responsive and designed for the thrill of surfing waves, the WaveRider brings a fresh perspective to recreational coastal rowing.

What happens when you combine the wave-riding characteristics of a surf ski with the rowing experience of a single scull? You get the WaveRider from WinTech Racing - a distinctive new boat designed for experienced rowers who want to take their ocean adventures to the next level.

Purpose-built for recreational ocean rowing, the WaveRider is designed to catch and ride waves, with an emphasis on manoeuvrability, responsive steering and performance in changing conditions. It's not a conventional coastal rowing boat, and that's precisely the point.

For rowers who love the ocean and want to experience it differently, the WaveRider opens up a whole new way to enjoy time on the water.

Designed to ride the waves

Traditional coastal rowing boats are built to handle challenging water conditions. The WaveRider takes a different approach on coastal rowing, drawing inspiration from surf ski design to create a hybrid hull specifically developed for the dynamics of ocean rowing.

Its optimised hull is designed to perform in both flat water and choppy offshore conditions, with the manoeuvrability to help experienced rowers catch and ride waves.

Rather than simply powering through the swell, the WaveRider invites you to work with it. Whether you're exploring the coastline or heading out in search of a good run down an ocean swell, this boat is built around the excitement of recreational ocean rowing.

Over 10 kg lighter. A whole new experience.

At approximately 24 kg, the WaveRider has a substantial weight advantage over conventional coastal rowing boats listed at around 35 kg.

That's approximately 11 kg less boat to carry - a meaningful difference when moving your shell from the car to the beach, launching into the water or hauling it back ashore after a session.

Quick-grab handles and a well-balanced structure make launching and recovery more manageable, while its lightweight composite construction brings together fibreglass, Kevlar, a foam core and gel coat.

Less weight on land, with a design focused on making the most of the ocean once you're afloat.

Designed around the rower

The WaveRider combines its distinctive hull concept with practical features to support the demands of recreational ocean rowing.

  • Responsive foot steering: A foot-steering system with an 8-inch standard rudder helps you manoeuvre through changing conditions.

  • Removable SUP-style skeg: An adaptable setup that complements the boat's hybrid design.

  • Surf ski-inspired footboard: A dedicated footboard brings surf ski influences into the rowing experience.

  • Integrated drainage: A DB bailer drainage system helps manage water in the boat.

  • Practical handling features: Quick-grab handles make launching and hauling away easier.

  • Lightweight composite construction: Fibreglass, Kevlar, a foam core and gel coat form the boat's construction.

With an aluminium stern wing, oval seat and complete seat-track system, the WaveRider combines its innovative design with familiar single-scull features.

Made for experienced rowers

The WaveRider offers something different from the standard competition approved coastal rowing boat. Instead, it offers a boat created specifically for experienced rowers seeking the fun, challenge and freedom of recreational ocean rowing.

If you enjoy reading the swell, finding your line and feeling a boat accelerate as it picks up a wave, the WaveRider is designed with that experience in mind.

From exploring the coastline to chasing the perfect wave, it's an invitation to experience rowing from a different perspective.

The WaveRider will be available to order for delivery in 2027 with any RAL deck colour.
