WinTech, King, and Stellar brands are committed to the environment
One of the greatest things about New Zealand is its pristine environment enjoyed by Kiwis and tourists alike. For anyone that loves boating, we're fortunate to enjoy some of the cleanest rivers, lakes and beaches in the world. However, population growth and industrialisation continue to threaten the environment. Generally speaking, boat building can be a process that produces a lot of waste and environmental contamination (aerosols, paint, sanding, carbon and fibreglass dust, etc.). Without strict processes in place, this waste leaks into our environment and threatens wildlife and the waterways we love to row and paddle on.
After a significant multi-million dollar investment as one of the world's largest boat builders, WinTech, King, and Stellar boats are all built with the world’s most innovative approaches to sustainable boat building. This investment included a renovation to the 500,000 sq ft state of the art manufacturing facility that focuses on clean air, water, and solar power. All of the boats are built with a commitment to avoid polluting the air and waterways alongside a commitment to net-zero renewable energy.
Solar
19,000 square metres of solar panels on the factory roof supply 3.1 megawatts of power to the facility. This offsets the majority of its power consumption with a green based net-zero carbon output renewable energy source.
Air
No air pollution from the facility enters the atmosphere. The centralised comprehensive dual air cleaning system filters VOCs and active carbon filters pull out impurities in the air. Further filtration systems remove 100% of the exhaust from the productions paint booths.
Water
All water is recycled through filters in a closed water system and cannot get back into the main water supply. Therefore, no dirty or contaminated water is returned to the general water system.
