In our first year of business we’ve enjoyed getting to know WinTech customers and some of the athletes racing in our boats. We caught up with some up-and-coming young athlete’s who shared with us their success at the championships this year.
Wentworth College’s Ella Rogers raced in a WinTech 1x and earned a bronze medal in the G U16 1x at NISSC this year and says her highlight was crossing the finish line and placing against such tough competition. When asked about her favourite thing about rowing she said that she loves racing and regattas and “meeting all the different people and the general vibe that surrounds the sport.”
Ella’s favourite thing about racing in a WinTech is “how light it is when going at race pace and how it feels like you’re gliding across the water.” Keep an eye out for Ella racing in the 2024/2025 season!
At NISSC Whakatane High School’s Ash Schutz earned a gold in his WinTech boats during both the B U16 1x and B U17 4x+. The highlight of his singles race was “definitely the sprint at the end, with competitor Harry Kavanagh a boat length up at 250m left and it was pretty much an all out sprint to the finish line.” Ash earned the gold in his single less than an hour after winning the B U17 4x+ with his teammates which according to him “was tough but made the win feel more worth it and felt good to win with my quad teammates as well.” Ash and his quad went on to the Aon Maadi Regatta to earn bronze in the B U17 4x+ and once again Ash had to hot seat into the B U16 1x where he earned silver. Whakatane H.S. also earned a bronze medal in the B U17 2x in a WinTech.
Ash says WinTech have “high quality [boats], nice and stiff to row, and have good weight ratings that fit individuals.”
